Job Description

Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health is seeking a compassionate, patient-focused Neonatologist to join our nationally recognized team in Indianapolis. As a leader in neonatal care, Riley Children’s treats more than 3,500 newborns annually across its Level IV and Level III NICUs. Our multidisciplinary team—comprised of board-certified neonatologists, advanced practice providers, and pediatric subspecialists—delivers comprehensive, lifesaving care that often begins prenatally and continues through the NICU stay and beyond. We work closely with maternal-fetal medicine, pediatric surgical and medical subspecialties, and neurodevelopmental follow-up programs to ensure seamless, family-centered care. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic academic environment where your clinical expertise, passion for teaching, and commitment to innovation will make a lasting impact.

This position will primarily serve the Level III NICU at IU Health North Hospital, part of Riley Children’s Health. Located in Carmel, the 20-bed NICU provides expert care for newborns with urgent medical needs and is staffed 24/7 by Riley neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners. Expectant mothers with high-risk pregnancies benefit from on-site consultation and imaging services provided by Riley maternal-fetal medicine specialists. The unit is equipped with advanced technology and offers a collaborative, family-centered environment where care often begins prenatally and continues through the newborn’s hospital stay.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary daytime attending physician at Riley Children's at IU North Hospital, a Level III NICU in Indianapolis, with potential opportunities to provide coverage at other NICUs managed by the Division.
  • Participate in the high-risk delivery service and provide consultation for high-risk obstetric patients at IU Health North Hospital.
  • Night call responsibilities are an expected part of the role and include in-house coverage during both weeknights and weekends.

Academic & Professional Engagement

  • Be an active member of the Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, contributing to the education of medical students, pediatric residents, neonatal fellows, and advanced practice providers (NNPs and PAs).
  • Candidates with experience in quality improvement initiatives or the development of clinical guidelines to reduce variation in care are highly valued.
  • Opportunities for academic engagement and scholarly activity are encouraged. A faculty appointment with the Indiana University School of Medicine is available and will be commensurate with experience and academic interests.

Competitive compensation and generous benefits through Indiana University School of Medicine; retirement, relocation, vacation, CME, quality bonus potential
