Community General Surgeon Valley Regional Hospital – Claremont, NH Mt. Ascutney Hospital – Windsor, VT

Dartmouth Health (DH) is seeking a BC/BE General Surgeon for a full-time position shared between Valley Regional Hospital and Mt. Ascutney Hospital.  Valley Regional Hospital (VRH), a critical access hospital in Claremont, NH and Mt. Ascutney Hospital (MAH), a critical access hospital in Windsor, VT are both located within approximately 10 miles of each other in the scenic, rural Upper Valley of the Connecticut River on the Vermont-New Hampshire border. This position is part of a Community General Surgery program that includes New London Hospital (NLH) in New London, NH, Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital (APD) in Lebanon, NH, and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) in Lebanon, NH. This program allows for collegiality among surgeons in similar positions for support and academia. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background, a commitment to student and resident education, and a passion for rural surgery. Excellent laparoscopic and endoscopic (endoscopy and colonoscopy) skills are essential. Robotic surgery is also an option.  Excellence in communication and a track record of impeccable professionalism are of paramount importance. Academic appointments commensurate with experience will be awarded by the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. Clinical practice will be focused at both Valley Regional Hospital and Mt. Ascutney Hospital where medical students and residents regularly rotate. Engagement in academic and didactic opportunities at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center is strongly encouraged. Required Licensure/Certifications:
  • MD, DO, or equivalent degree
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in General Surgery. Candidates must have completed or will soon complete training in General Surgery in an ACGME-accredited residency
  • Must obtain and maintain a medical license in the states of New Hampshire, Vermont
