Open Rank - Assistant, Associate or Full Professor of Abdominal Imaging

The Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging at the University of Virginia seeks a full-time Abdominal Imaging Radiologist. We are looking for candidates to join our team of seven full-time Abdominal Imagers to complement our busy diagnostic and procedural services. Rank and tenure are dependent upon

qualifications and experience.

 

The Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging includes ~60 Clinical Faculty, 14 Research Faculty, 40 Residents, and 27 Fellows/Clinical Instructors. The Abdominal Imaging Section has four to five dedicated Fellows and, in addition, Fellows from other services rotate through the Section's clinical service.

Qualifications

Candidates for this position must have an MD or equivalent degree in the field, be eligible for Virginia State Medical Licensure, and be committed to a career in academic radiology. A background or strong interest in research is preferred.

Our clinical services include all aspects of diagnostic imaging and image-guided, minimally invasive interventional and diagnostic services.

Faculty

Many of our faculty members are nationally and internationally acknowledged as experts in their subspecialty areas of practice, having made widely recognized contributions to clinical care, the education of trainees, and innovative imaging research. The Department currently consists of 54 full-time clinical faculty, 14 research faculty, 40 residents and 27 fellows and instructors-in-training. State-of-the-art imaging equipment is available in the main hospital, the Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center, and in outpatient diagnostic imaging centers at the Fontaine Research Park, Northridge Transitional Care Facility, the Outpatient Orthopedic Center, and at Primary and Specialty Care Zion Crossroads.

 

The UVA Children’s Hospital is a Level 1 Trauma Center, has a busy 60 bed NICU and 25 bed PICU. A busy inpatient service and new-born nursery are staffed by pediatric hospitalists. All pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties are represented and provide care to a spectrum of common to very medically complex patients. Clinical and research imaging technology of the highest caliber is present. Child life specialists, pediatric sedation and a pediatric anesthesia team provide imaging support.

The Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging includes 52 Clinical Faculty, 14 Research Faculty, 40 Residents, and 25 Fellows/Clinical Instructors.
