Pediatric Hospitalist (0.5 FTE)

Location: Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital (CVPH) – Golisano Children’s Hospital at UVM Health Network, Plattsburgh, NY

Position Overview:
CVPH, a member of the Golisano Children’s Hospital at University of Vermont Health System, is seeking a Pediatric Hospitalist to provide high-quality inpatient care for infants, children, and adolescents in a supportive community hospital environment. This is a clinical-only position ideal for physicians seeking work-life balance within a collaborative, family-centered care model.

Responsibilities:

• Manage inpatient pediatric and newborn patients, including admissions, daily rounds, and discharges.
• Provide newborn nursery coverage and attend deliveries as needed.
• Collaborate with community pediatricians and UVM Children’s Hospital subspecialists.
• Support the Emergency Department with pediatric consultations.
• Participate in quality and safety initiatives within the pediatric service.

Qualifications:

• MD or DO, Board Certified/Eligible in Pediatrics.
• Eligible for NY medical licensure.
• Strong clinical and communication skills; commitment to compassionate, team-based care.

Schedule & Benefits:

• 0.5 FTE (approximately 20 hours/week or equivalent block schedule).
• Shared weekends/holidays and call responsibilities within the hospitalist team.

CVPH is a 300-bed community hospital located in the northeastern region of New York State serving a catchment area of approximately 170,000. The facility includes a 14-bed state-of-the-art critical care unit and 9 state-of-the-arts OR’s. The typical daily census is approximately 250 (approximately 130 acute/private beds). We have an average of 25 admissions and 775 outpatients per day. We have over 230 physicians on the Medical Staff representing many sub-specialties. Our state of the art critical care unit has 14-beds, the Progressive Care Unit has 12 beds and our three cath labs have digital equipment. We have 9 state-of-the-arts OR’s, a 27-room Emergency Department and newly constructed interventional radiology suites. Our Ambulatory Surgery Center has 4 OR’s and 4 endoscopy suites. The EMR network wide in both the clinic and inpatient settings is EPIC.  

Now more than ever, CVPH is committed to creating a learning environment to provide a comprehensive and well-rounded medical training experience. Our affiliation with the University of Vermont Medical Center, a level I trauma center located 1 hour away, has helped us to establish a community-based Family Medicine Residency. In addition, we have Emergency Medicine residents and medical students from UVM doing clinical rotations at CVPH.
