Exciting Opportunity for a Locum - Physician - Gastroenterology
Start Date: April 1, 2026, | Location: Lexington, KY
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Gastroenterologist providing vital inpatient care through a flexible 24-hour call schedule. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide inpatient gastroenterology coverage during assigned 14-day blocks (7 days on/7 days off) starting immediately upon onboarding.
- Perform routine GI procedures, including ERCPs and endoscopies, and handle consultations and ED call duties.
- Collaborate closely with a team of three inpatient Advanced Practice Providers dedicated to GI.
- Conduct inpatient rounding, navigate ERCP procedures, and manage urgent GI cases within hospital settings.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Board-certified or eligible in Gastroenterology.
- Proven experience in inpatient GI procedures, including ERCPs.
- Strong ability to perform bread-and-butter GI procedures and handle inpatient rounds efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Valid medical license with clean record for expedited privileges processing.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience working with EPIC EMR system.
- Prior hospital-based gastroenterology practice experience.
- Familiarity with hospital protocols and emergency procedures.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
- At least 2 years of clinical gastroenterology experience, including inpatient care.
- Active medical licensure or eligibility in Kentucky.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to start immediately with ongoing scheduling flexibility.
- No travel required unless preferred; local accommodation arrangements per hospital policy.
- Credentialing completed promptly to ensure seamless integration.
