We welcome applicants who can cover multiple modalities or body systems as generalists (no procedures or mammography required) or those with subspecialty expertise in one or a few areas. The specific scope of services will be determined collaboratively prior to interviews to align departmental needs with the candidate’s expertise and interests. Compensation
  • Productivity-based, starting with a guaranteed salary that transitions to a base + bonus structure, with the base adjusting based on productivity—potentially exceeding national medians.
  • biannual true-up ensures all additional work is fully compensated.
  • Dollar-per-RVU rate is highly competitive and reviewed annually based on national benchmarks.
  • Faculty are encouraged to pursue continuing education, join professional societies, and engage in professional development, with institutional support provided.
Schedule
  • Flexible schedules tailored to clinical needs and mutual agreement.
  • Full-time: Mostly scheduled shifts with a portion of flexible or add-on shifts.
  • Part-time: Mix of scheduled and/or flexible shifts based on practice area and need.
  • Weekly schedules: 4- or 5-day options; compensation remains productivity-based.
  • Earnings: 4-day weeks can achieve competitive salaries; 5-day weeks often exceed national averages.
Benefits:
  • Productivity-based pay with competitive guaranteed salary + bonus and semi-annual true-ups.
  • Flexible roles for generalists or subspecialists, full- or part-time, with customizable schedules and volumes.
  • Full benefits including malpractice (with tail), life/disability insurance, and affordable medical plans.
  • Retirement plan with generous institutional contributions and matching.
  • CME and vacation support to grow your skills and maintain balance.
  • Collaborative culture: supportive, transparent, and engaged across on-site and remote teams.

Our Department provides coverage for all settings, including outpatient examinations from many sites, acute care imaging, and referral center level advanced imaging. The selected candidates will join Dartmouth Health’s 70 radiologists. We are an internationally-known Department with a deep history in the field, beginning with acquiring the first clinical x-ray in the United States in 1896. Since then, we have continued an upward trajectory growing in breadth and depth and expanding our services across New England. While Dartmouth Health includes many hospitals and clinic sites, our central hub is the tertiary-care Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, which is the system’s one and only Academic Medical Center. DHMC is the state’s only Level 1 trauma center, a certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, and home to an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dartmouth runs a fleet of helicopter and ground-based medical transport services connecting facilities and patients throughout New England. Dartmouth Health maintains a total of 802 beds, with 458 located at DHMC. Our extensive network handles over 3 million outpatient visits annually, supported by a dedicated team of 15,000 employees and more than 2,300 employed providers. Our commitment to the community is reflected in our contributions, with over $345 million in community benefits and $16 million in charity care. These numbers underscore our role as a leading healthcare provider, committed to both clinical excellence and community support. Position Requirements:
  • Diagnostic Radiology Board Certified or Board Eligible
  • Must obtain and maintain a medical license in New Hampshire, Vermont, and the candidate’s state of residence.
  • Currently, we are able to employ remote readers who live in, and will read from, FL, CT, MA, NH, VT, and/or ME. We require a fixed address (or addresses), from which readers will provide services. More than 1 address is acceptable as long as all addresses are within the 6 states listed above and the radiologist’s current location is provided at all times.
  • All candidates will be offered a clinical academic appointment at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, indicating your valued role in our department, though remote readers do not have education or research receptibilities/expectations.
