Are you an experienced Gastroenterologist seeking a rewarding locum opportunity? We are currently seeking a skilled physician to provide inpatient gastroenterology services at CHI St. Luke's in Lufkin, TX. This role offers a unique chance to contribute to patient care in a hospital setting, focusing solely on inpatient consultations and procedures, with no outpatient responsibilities. Your expertise will help ensure seamless GI care for patients experiencing complex gastrointestinal issues.

In this role, you will perform routine GI procedures such as endoscopies and colonoscopies and have ERCP capabilities. You will work with dedicated endoscopy-trained nursing staff, providing vital inpatient care, including managing GI bleed, abdominal pain, SBO, and other serious GI conditions. The position requires availability for 24-hour shifts, including holiday coverage, with scheduling flexibility as per your capacity.

Required Skills:

• Board Certification or eligibility in Gastroenterology
• Proficiency in standard GI procedures (endoscopies, colonoscopies)
• ERCP experience essential
• Ability to work independently, with excellent clinical judgment
• Strong communication and team collaboration skills
• Availability for 24-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays

Nice to Have Skills:

• EUS (Endoscopic Ultrasound) experience
• Familiarity with EMR systems, ideally Paragon, with EPIC experience preferred
• Prior inpatient GI consultation experience
• Ability to handle high-acuity patients effectively

Preferred Education and Experience:

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
• Active medical license in Texas or eligible for licensing
• At least 2 years of post-residency GI practice experience
• Relevant inpatient GI procedural experience

Other Requirements:

• Willingness to work on scheduled shifts from August 2026 onward
• Emergency credentialing capability (preferred but not required)
• Ability to adhere to hospital policies, including malpractice and disciplinary standards
• No history of excessive malpractice suits or disciplinary actions
