Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, located in Bangor, Maine, seeks a BC/BE Clinical Geneticist in the Department of Pediatrics to join our active and growing hospital-employed practice.

About the Position: As Central and Northern Maine’s only comprehensive genetics program, we are seeking a board-certified Clinical Geneticist to join our multidisciplinary care team. This role offers the opportunity to provide vital, comprehensive genetic evaluations across the lifespan for a wide range of conditions. Our practice supports a Level III NICU, PICU, Maternal-Fetal Health, and inpatient/outpatient general and subspecialty pediatric care, as well as some adult sub-specialty care.

Location: Pediatric Specialty Clinic (with occasional inpatient consults at the main hospital)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Evaluation: Provide comprehensive evaluations for patients of all ages regarding various outpatient indications including prenatal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, developmental, neurologic, and cardiac conditions.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely alongside two board-certified genetic counselors as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
  • Counseling Support: Assist with essential pre- and post-test counseling for patients and families alongside two board certified genetic counselors.
  • Testing & Interpretation: Interpret complex genetic and genomic testing results, including those specific to prenatal and biochemical evaluations.
  • Inpatient Consults: Provide occasional on-site inpatient consultations at the main hospital facility located nearby

Qualifications

  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Pediatrics and Medical Genetics and Genomics
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong interest in teaching and outreach across a broad geographic area
  • Enthusiasm for working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team with general and specialty pediatrics, maternal-fetal medicine, adult cardiology and cancer care
