Are you a dedicated Gastroenterologist seeking a rewarding locum opportunity in a charming waterfront community? McLaren Bay Region is actively recruiting a skilled Physician to provide critical 24-hour call coverage at our state-of-the-art facility. This exciting role offers a unique chance to make a meaningful impact while enjoying the rich amenities of Northern Michigan.

In this pivotal position, you'll deliver exceptional gastroenterology care, including ERCP procedures, with the support of hospitalists and a team of experienced colorectal surgeons. The schedule includes Monday through Thursday from 7 am to 7 am for 24-hour call coverage, and Fridays from 7 am to 7 pm, with no weekend call requirements. This ongoing assignment extends through 2026, offering stability and consistent engagement.

We are looking for candidates who possess strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the flexibility to adapt to a dynamic healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable performing ERCPs, collaborating with support staff, and functioning effectively in a small-town setting that offers both tranquility and access to urban amenities.

Required Skills:

• Valid medical license in Michigan
• Board certification or eligibility in Gastroenterology
• Proven experience in ERCP procedures
• Ability to provide 24-hour call coverage
• Strong clinical judgment and patient-centered approach
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Nice to Have Skills:

• Prior locum or temporary provider experience
• Familiarity with hospitalist support systems
• Experience working in community hospital settings
• Multilingual abilities are a plus

Preferred Education and Experience:

• MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
• Completion of a Gastroenterology fellowship
• Minimum of 2 years of professional practice post-certification
• Comfortable performing advanced endoscopic procedures

Other Requirements:

• Ability to start by March 1, 2026
• Flexible schedule to accommodate ongoing coverage needs through late 2026
• Willingness to comply with travel and expense policies (mileage, lodging, etc.)
• Certification in basic life support (BLS) required
