Faculty Physician – GI Motility Specialist

Banner University Medical Group – Tucson

 

The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Arizona and Banner University Medical Group—Tucson is seeking a BC/BE Gastroenterologist with training/experience in gastrointestinal motility disorders. Ideal candidates will have completed advanced fellowship training in GI motility with experience managing complex disorders of gut–brain interaction, including esophageal, gastric, intestinal, and anorectal disorders.

The selected physician will join a multidisciplinary motility program supported by gastroenterologists, advanced practice providers, specialized nursing, and ancillary staff, with access to comprehensive diagnostic modalities including high-resolution manometry, pH-impedance testing, anorectal manometry, and breath testing. The motility practice serves as a regional referral center for the Southwest and represents a unique opportunity to establish and expand a comprehensive motility program within Banner Health. The candidate may step into an existing referral base and develop a robust motility-focused clinical practice from the outset, with significant opportunity for regional and national impact.

 

You will join an established Clinical Faculty team at the University of Arizona and Banner University Medical Center – Tucson Campus and South Campus in Tucson, AZ. The Division maintains a robust ACGME-accredited fellowship program and values faculty with a strong commitment to patient-centered care, clinical excellence, education, and translational or clinical research in gastrointestinal disorders. Qualified candidates will receive a faculty appointment at the University of Arizona commensurate with experience and academic accomplishments.

Position Details Include:

  • BC/BE in Gastroenterology required
  • Fellowship-trained motility candidates strongly preferred and will require a certificate and/or letters of recommendations documenting expertise
  • Newly graduated fellows and experienced attendings encouraged to apply
  • Inpatient consult and call responsibilities with equitable rotation
  • Outpatient motility-focused clinic
  • Outpatient endoscopy as clinically appropriate
  • Interpretation and performance of motility diagnostic studies
  • Teaching and mentorship of medical students, residents, and GI fellows
  • Opportunities for educational leadership, program development, and research
  • Well-established regional referral center with high clinical volumes
  • Collaborative environment with Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Interventional Radiology, and Oncology
