Experienced CAH Medical Director/HOSP Needed in Beautiful Wrangell, AK - 2 wks on, 2 wks off

The WMC Acute Care Medical Director is responsible for the quality and safety of the care of patients at the Wrangel Medical Center Hospital, Long Term Care and Trauma accreditation status of WMC. They focus on both patient quality and safety as well as provider engagement, wellness and safety. Position functions include, but not limited to the following:

  • SEARHC is looking for an experienced and proven leader who is also comfortable with inpatient rounding/procedures as well as cover the emergency department (hours worked as HOSP = .75 FTE), plus an additional 40 hrs p/m for protected administrative time (this is the additional .25 FTE)
  • 8-bed CAH with a census of 0-4, plus urgent/emergent/same day patients = 5-7 patients per 24 hours
  • Direct supervision of other doctors and APPs
  • Collaborate with CNO, pharmacy, RNs, EMS, behavioral health, and administration to help ensure open communication and a teamwork environment
  •  Hospitalist/Emergency Room rotation is as follows:
    • Week 1 hours - 8am - 4pm (rounding and covering ER)
    • Week 2 hours - 4pm - 12am (rounding and covering ER, then on call from home)
  •  We have visiting specialty support that comes in weekly, biweekly, or monthly depending on the need and specialty
  • Inhouse Tele-Stroke Program, complex lab, CT, US, Rehab, Dietitian, and a Swing Bed Program
