Are you a dedicated General Surgeon seeking a rewarding locum opportunity? We invite experienced physicians to provide exceptional surgical care in Pendleton, Oregon, at St. Anthony Hospital. This pivotal role combines clinical excellence with trauma care, offering a challenging yet fulfilling environment where your skills make a real difference.

Position Overview:

This is a full-time, 7-10 month locum position providing comprehensive surgical coverage. You will conduct scheduled clinic visits, perform emergency and scheduled surgeries, and participate in 24-hour hospital call rotations. The role demands clinical proficiency, adaptability in trauma situations, and a commitment to patient-centered care. You'll work alongside a supportive medical team in a state-of-the-art facility, contributing to approximately 500 surgeries annually, predominantly outpatient, with an active trauma case volume.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Attend to scheduled clinic patients Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Provide emergency surgeries, consultations, and post-operative care.
  • Fulfill 24-hour hospital call duties, including trauma response.
  • Perform procedures such as colonoscopies, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, appendectomy, skin excisions, and more.
  • Respond promptly to trauma activations and ED emergencies.
  • Collaborate with hospital and clinic staff using Meditech and eClinicalWorks EMR systems.
  • Maintain high standards of clinical practice, practicing as if a full-time employee of St. Anthony.

Required Skills:
  • Board-certified or eligible in General Surgery.
  • Active medical license in Oregon or eligible for licensure.
  • Proven experience in outpatient and inpatient surgery settings.
  • Strong trauma response capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a busy clinical schedule.

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience in minimally invasive procedures.
  • Prior trauma surgery experience.
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish.
  • Familiarity with Meditech and eCW EMR systems.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
  • At least 2 years of post-residency clinical experience in general surgery, with preferred experience in trauma and outpatient care.
  • Previous locum or hospital-based practice preferred but not required.

Other Requirements:
  • Willingness to work in both clinic and hospital settings, including 24-hour call shifts.
  • Ability to respond effectively to traumas and emergencies.
  • Travel arrangements include flying into Pasco, WA, and renting a car to Pendleton.
  • Availability to start as soon as credentialed, with schedules spanning July 2026.
  • No prior malpractice history; candidates with dismissed or unresolved cases are ineligible.
