We’re seeking a passionate and driven Board-certified/board-eligible Critical Care Physician(s) to join our Cardiac Critical Care team in Muskegon, MI. About The Program
Trinity Health Muskegon is launching an intensivist-driven Cardiac Critical Care program within our organization on the Lakeshore. This is a wonderful opportunity to join as a founding physician and shape a next-generation cardiac ICU in collaboration with an exceptional cardiac care team. This 10-bed, 24/7 intensivist-staffed unit will deliver comprehensive care for high-acuity cardiac patients, including post–open heart surgery, cardiogenic shock, STEMI/high risk ACS, and selected structural heart cases. The model mirrors regional community standards and replaces fragmented co-management with unified, expert-led critical care.

What We Are Looking For

  • 5.0 FTE Intensivist Team
  • One (1.0 FTE) will be an intensivist with formal Cardiothoracic Surgical ICU expertise and an academic track record to serve as the program’s academic anchor and prospective Program Director for the Cardiology Fellowship
  • Attend in a dedicated cardiac ICU, partnering tightly with CT surgery and interventional cardiology
  • 12 shifts per month per intensivist; True shift-work model (no call, no PTO/vacation tracking—built into scheduling)
  • Full 24/7 coverage
  • Cohesive partnership with cardiothoracic surgery, interventional cardiology, and cardiac anesthesia
  • Potential for service line expansion as CT surgery and Cardiology grow, including integration with the developing Cardiology Fellowship

Requirements

  • Critical Care Fellowship Required
  • Physicians shall be board-certified in their respective clinical specialty or must achieve board certification within the timeframe defined by the applicable specialty board.
  • Active Michigan medical license (or ability to obtain)
  • DEA license
  • BLS certification (must be maintained)/ ACLS/BLS certification (must be maintained)

Duties & Responsibilities

A typical day may include:

  • Providing direct patient care
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
  • Participating in teaching and mentoring
  • Documenting in Epic EMR
  • Engaging in quality improvement initiatives
  • Supporting community health efforts

Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital (THMH) is located on the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan and serves Muskegon, Ottawa, Oceana, and Newaygo County residents.
