Walk-in/Urgent Care Physician - Phelps Health Walk-in Clinics - Rolla, Missouri

We’re seeking a physician to join our Walk-in Clinics who shares our C.A.R.E.S. values: Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence, and Service.

Practice Highlights:

• No call; average 3 shifts per week
• Fully-equipped Walk-in/Urgent clinic with X-ray, Omnicell, procedure room, etc.
• Epic EMR and Dax CoPilot
• Opportunity for additional compensation with Collaborative Practice Agreements
• Efficient and collaborative processes with other hospital resources (ER, specialties, etc.)

Core Responsibilities:

• Conduct focused, rapid evaluations of acute physical complaints, injuries, and illnesses in patients of all ages, while considering relevant mental, emotional, and social factors that may influence immediate care needs.
• Diagnose, treat, and manage common acute conditions and acute exacerbations of chronic illnesses.
• Carefully prescribe short-term medications, manage potential drug interactions and contraindications, and tailor regimens based on patient allergies, comorbidities, current medications, and unique circumstances.
• Collaborate with nurses, APPs, medical assistants, and radiologic technologists for efficient patient flow and integrated care, including timely referrals to primary care physicians, emergency departments, or specialists when higher-acuity or ongoing management is required.
• Provide indicated vaccinations, point-of-care testing, and basic preventive guidance with clear instructions for timely follow-up with a primary care provider.
• For acute injuries or functional complaints, assess immediate impact on daily activities, recommend appropriate assistive devices and deliver targeted safety and prevention advice.
• Explain conditions, treatment plans, self-care instructions, and red-flag symptoms in clear, understandable language to ensure patient understanding, compliance, and safe discharge.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Board Eligible/Board Certified Physician in Family Medicine
• Experience working in rural outpatient clinic settings preferred.
• Experience serving as a collaborating physician with Advance Practice Providers

Location:

• This is a full-time position within the Rolla and Waynesville Phelps Health Walk-in Clinics.
