How you'll make an impact in this roleAscension St. Vincent in Indianapolis, IN, is seeking a Full-Time High-Risk OB Hospitalist to work in a Level IV Perinatal Care Center. This role acts as a Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) extender, managing high-risk patients, triaging, and performing deliveries, often in conjunction with MFM specialists.

Clinical Duties:
Daily rounds with MFM, high-risk deliveries, and assessing incoming maternal transports. Estimated between 1-5 deliveries per shift.
Facility Details:
Located at St. Vincent Women's Hospital (Indianapolis), featuring a Level IV NICU and a new nine-story women’s and children's tower.
Schedule:
Roles involve 12- or 24-hour shifts with no traditional on-call, designed to support work-life balance. Annual hours worked are 1,872 + 144 hours of PTO. Teir increase in hourly compensation for excess shifts beyond 78 annually.
Requirements:
Board Certified/Board Eligible OB/GYN MD/DO with at least 2-5 years of experience preferred.
Collaboration:
Working within a supportive environment with MFM specialists, residents, and APP services.
This role is critical for reducing maternal morbidity and mortality in Indiana.
Responsibilities:
- Provide medical services to patients in an assigned area.
- Evaluate and treat patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills. Coordinate discharge planning with case management.
- Recommend, participate in, and work to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
- Accept patient referrals from other physicians. Act as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital.
- Participate in academic programs (eg medical education and research) as requested.
- Provide appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.
- Participate in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules.
What minimum qualifications you'll needLicensure / Certification / Registration:
- Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Indiana Medical Licensing Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Verified by local credentialing office.
- Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Verified by local credentialing office.
Education:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
