It is a 295-bed hospital that provides training, primary care, and sub-specialty health care in numerous medical areas for eligible Veterans. It is also a Joint Commission-accredited, level 1a complexity teaching hospital, providing tertiary-level care.

Benefits and Compensation:
- Pay: $325,000 - $400,000/per year
- Annual performance bonus, and regular salary increases.
- Paid Time Off: 50-55 days annually, including:
- 26 days of annual leave
- 13 days of sick leave
- 11 paid Federal holidays
- Up to 5 days paid absence for CME
- Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% contributions by VA.
- Insurance: Comprehensive federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long-term care insurance (many programs can be carried into retirement).
- Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory.

Key Responsibilities:
- Expertise in General Orthopedic Surgery, including routine orthopedic trauma with a subspecialty focus on shoulder surgery.
- Lead and improve service delivery initiatives within the facility.
- Provide clinical care, assist residents and mid-level practitioners, and ensure comprehensive patient evaluations.
- Coordinate with internal and external providers for cohesive patient care.
- Foster a positive working environment and maintain strong professional relationships with staff, peers, and Veterans.
- Engage in consultations and actively participate in hospital and departmental committees, educational programs, and the peer review process.
- Participate in a collaborative call schedule with three other orthopedic surgeons.
- Work alongside a supportive team of six skilled mid-level practitioners and an orthopedic resident.
- Train orthopedic residents from our academic affiliate, the University of Arizona.
- Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm
Requirements:
- United States Citizenship
- Non-US Citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified US Citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine
- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in all the US States
- Successful completion of Residency Training in the USA
- Preferred Experience:
General orthopedic experience is essential with a focus on shoulder surgeries including shoulder arthroscopies, total and reverse shoulder arthroplasties.
- Fellowship training in Shoulder surgery/ sports is strongly preferred and should be proficient in be able to operate on routine trauma cases such as hip fracture
- Board-certified or board-eligible orthopedic surgeon
