Advanced Cardiac Imaging | Atrium Health Cabarrus | Concord, NC

Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute is seeking an Advanced Cardiac Imaging Cardiologist to join its growing practice at Atrium Health Cabarrus, a high?quality, innovation?driven tertiary care site within Advocate Health. This opportunity offers the ability to practice at a busy regional referral hospital while contributing to advanced cardiac imaging, inpatient services, and continued program growth.

CMR and structural imaging is performed at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center, a quaternary facility with 874 beds. Structural echo and TEE for this role will be largely performed at AH Cabarrus. Only CMR and CT structural imaging is limited to the CMC site. Structural echo will not be done at CMC short of vacation driven need for coverage.

About Atrium Health Cabarrus
Atrium Health Cabarrus is a 457?bed tertiary care hospital and the second largest in the Greater Charlotte market, serving a rapidly growing and diverse patient population. The hospital is part of Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute, one of the largest and most comprehensive cardiovascular programs in the Southeast, and is anchored by a state?of?the?art Heart & Vascular Tower designed for integrated, patient?centered care.

The cardiovascular program offers a full spectrum of services including advanced non?invasive and structural imaging, structural and interventional cardiology, comprehensive electrophysiology services, and advanced heart failure care. Physicians practice in a highly collaborative, team?based environment alongside 17 cardiologists, 4 cardiac surgeons, a dedicated 6?physician vascular surgery team, and robust support from more than 21 cardiology?focused advanced practice providers.

Why This Opportunity
This is a busy, well?established clinical practice with a strong referral base and opportunities to participate in program growth and clinical innovation. Physicians benefit from a supportive, academically engaged health system and the ability to practice on a modern, expanding campus that serves as a regional cardiovascular hub.

Clinical Responsibilities – Inpatient Services
Physicians rotate between two inpatient services, including a 14?bed Cardiac Care Unit attached to a step down unit. A significant portion of the patient population includes post?surgical cardiac patients. Dedicated CCU weeks include management of critically ill cardiac patients, including mechanical circulatory support, ECMO, and advanced cardiac devices. CCU care is co?managed with a 24/7 in?house critical care team. The general cardiology inpatient service includes APP support.

Service Schedule
Service coverage is provided in week?long blocks. Physicians cover approximately 10 weeks per year, or about one week every 5–6 weeks.

Outpatient Clinic & Imaging
When not on service, physicians split time between clinic and imaging with intentional variety built into the schedule. Outpatient cardiology clinics are interspersed with imaging days. The schedule is designed to avoid back?to?back clinic days whenever possible. Imaging days rotate to provide variety and prevent long stretches in a single role.

Designated CMR reading days would be at Carolinas Medical Center (CMC), while CT studies are be read remotely, though it would be based at CMC if combined with structural CT work. Structural and procedural TEE work would all be performed at AH Cabarrus as part of the on site structural team. Participation in a system-wide structural conference which occurs weekly would be an expectation.

Call & Weekend Coverage
Weekend coverage averages approximately 9 weekends per year, or about Q6. In?house advanced practice provider coverage is available 24/7, significantly limiting overnight call burden. Imaging call is shared among imaging?trained cardiologists and continues to improve as the group grows.

Lifestyle & Location

This opportunity offers exceptional flexibility in where you call home. Physicians may choose to live on Lake Norman, in the charming and highly sought?after town of Davidson, or enjoy the energy, dining, and cultural amenities of Charlotte—all within an easy commute to Atrium Health Cabarrus.
