Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, invites applications for the position of Gastroenterologist Functional Bowel Specialist.

We are seeking a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist with expertise or a strong clinical focus in functional bowel disorders to join a growing, high-performing digestive health program. This is a unique opportunity to build and expand a specialized practice in disorders such as IBS, functional dyspepsia, and motility-related conditions within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Position Highlights:

• Focus on functional GI disorders including IBS, chronic constipation, functional dyspepsia, and functional diarrhea.

• Collaborative care model with nutritionists, behavioral health, and advanced endoscopy

• Access to advanced diagnostics (motility testing, anorectal manometry, breath testing, etc.)

• Mix of outpatient care and procedural time with main location at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago; schedule will include some clinical rotations at Rush Oak Park Hospital in Oak Park, IL

• Strong referral base with opportunity to grow regional and national reputation

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and manage patients with complex functional GI and motility disorders

• Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans incorporating dietary, pharmacologic, and behavioral therapies

• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes

• Participate in program development, including clinical pathways and patient education initiatives

• Contribute to quality improvement and clinical innovation efforts

• Contribute to program growth, quality improvement, and clinical innovation initiatives

• Involvement in research, clinical trials, and teaching

Qualifications:

• MD or DO with completion of Gastroenterology fellowship

• Board Certified in Gastroenterology

• Demonstrated interest or advanced training in functional bowel or motility disorders

• 10 years of Clinical experience or more is preferred for this role

• Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Illinois

Rush offers competitive total compensation that includes base pay, benefits, and other incentive programs for our employees. The total pay range shown reflects the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, knowledge and skills; relevant experience and training; education, certifications, and licensure; primary work location; and other business and organizational factors. This total pay range is for a full-time, 1.0 FTE employee, and includes any incentive payments that may be applicable to this role, as well as additional compensation such as sign-on and retention bonuses and relocation allowances. Opportunities for increased compensation based on exceeding productivity targets. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package.
