Medical Director - Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

The University of Kansas Health System, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) is seeking an additional board eligible/board certified physiatrist for full time faculty position with training and interest in Medical Director of Inpatient Rehabilitation at a free-standing, community-based rehabilitation hospital. Applicants will be hired at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Professor (tenure or non-tenure track) based on experience. All faculty are required to take an active role in our integrated residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Work Experience:

  • Special interest in medical management of rehabilitation needs for patients during inpatient rehabilitation including medically complex, neurologic and orthopedic diagnoses.  Ambulatory clinics are available but not required for this position.
  • Excellent clinical skills and a strong interest in education and/or research.

Required Qualifications

  • MD or DO 
  • Board eligible/ board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in inpatient rehabilitation settings. 
  • Provide visible physician leadership, clinical oversight, and regulatory stewardship to deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centered inpatient rehabilitation care while advancing performance, culture, growth, and reputation.
  • Management of inpatient rehabilitation unit service, inpatient consultation service, along with teaching and scholarly activity.
  • Collaborate with referring services and other departments as appropriate to ensure transitions across the continuum of care.
  • Establish a community-based consultation service at other locations as appropriate.
  • Lectures to PM&R residents and students.
  • Attend Grand Rounds as scheduled.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by Chair.
