Job Description

Clinical Effort: 80% Clinical / 20% Academic, GME, Administrative, and Program Development

AdventHealth Tampa is seeking a fellowship-trained Movement Disorders Neurologist to join our expanding academic neurology program. This role will focus on developing a comprehensive movement disorders practice to serve patients with Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, dystonia, ataxia, Huntington’s disease, tic disorders, functional movement disorders, atypical parkinsonism, and other complex movement disorders.

The physician will provide primarily outpatient subspecialty care with opportunities to build multidisciplinary programs in collaboration with neurosurgery, rehabilitation, psychiatry, neuropsychology, speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and social work. The role may include development of advanced therapeutic services such as botulinum toxin injections, deep brain stimulation evaluation and programming, device-based therapies, and multidisciplinary Parkinson’s disease care pathways.

This position includes 80% clinical effort, and 20% effort will be dedicated to Neurology leadership responsibilities within GME, either as the Research Director or as the Associate Program Director for Neurology Quality Improvement and Patient Safety, based on the candidate’s interests, qualifications, and programmatic needs. The physician will play an important role in the development of the AdventHealth Tampa Neurology Residency Program, scheduled to begin in July 2027, and the resident general neurology clinic planned for July 2028.

Key Responsibilities

Provide outpatient consultation and longitudinal care for patients with movement disorders.

Participate in inpatient neurology consultation coverage as appropriate.

Evaluate and manage Parkinson’s disease, tremor, dystonia, chorea, ataxia, atypical parkinsonism, and related conditions.

Perform botulinum toxin injections and other movement disorder procedures as appropriate.

Develop or support DBS evaluation, referral, and programming workflows if applicable.

Collaborate with rehabilitation, neurosurgery, psychiatry, neuropsychology, therapy services, and allied health teams.

Help establish clinical pathways for movement disorders care across AdventHealth Tampa.

Participate in GME teaching, including resident didactics, case conferences, journal club, morning report, and bedside or clinic-based teaching.

Precept neurology residents in the resident general neurology continuity clinic for one half-day per week.

Serve as a faculty mentor for residents interested in movement disorders, clinical research, quality improvement, or academic neurology.

Participate in Clinical Competency Committee, Program Evaluation Committee, recruitment, resident advising, and other residency program activities as assigned.

Contribute to scholarly activity, quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and faculty development.

Serve as the GME Research Director or as the GME Associate Program Director for Neurology Quality Improvement and Patient Safety, based on the candidate’s interests, qualifications, and programmatic needs.

Support growth of the AdventHealth Tampa neuroscience service line and academic neurology program.
