Site Chief Hospitalist - Physician Leader - Sentara Leigh Hospital

Sentara Medical Group is seeking an experienced and dynamic physician leader to serve as Site Chief Hospitalist at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. Reporting to the Sentara Medical Group Clinical Chief of Hospital Medicine and partnering closely with the facility Chief Medical Officer, this leadership role is responsible for advancing a high-performing hospital medicine program through strategic growth, physician recruitment and retention, quality improvement, and operational excellence. The Site Chief Hospitalist will play a key role in shaping the future of the program while maintaining an active clinical practice and collaborating with leadership to achieve the organization's short- and long-term goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a dynamic Hospital Medicine program in partnership with hospital and physician leadership.
• Drive clinical excellence, quality improvement, patient satisfaction, and operational performance.
• Collaborate with emergency medicine, specialty services, nursing, and care management teams to optimize patient care and care transitions.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop hospital medicine providers while fostering a culture of teamwork and professional growth.
• Influence strategic planning, staffing models, clinical protocols, and program development initiatives.
• Serve as a trusted physician leader, representing Hospital Medicine across hospital committees, leadership forums, and community partnerships.
• Oversee program performance, financial stewardship, provider engagement, and service line growth.
• Champion innovation, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
• Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience with progressive physician leadership responsibilities.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in Virginia and in good standing.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $272,688.00 - $373,796.80 annually. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs. Note: If an annual salary is posted, it is based on a full-time colleague working 2,080 hours annually.
