Opportunity Details:

Golisano Children’s at UK is seeking an experienced Pediatric Surgeon to join a growing academic surgical program and take on a meaningful role in clinical excellence, quality leadership, mentorship, and program development.

This position is ideal for an established pediatric surgeon who is interested in expanding their leadership impact while maintaining a broad and complex clinical practice. The physician will help shape the continued growth of Pediatric Surgery, provide mentorship within the division, and lead efforts to advance the Pediatric Surgery Quality Program.

In addition to clinical practice, the role offers opportunities to contribute to strategic program development, education, research, and quality initiatives across a high acuity academic children’s health system.

PRACTICE HIGHLIGHTS

 

  • Leadership Impact: Play an influential role in the continued growth, clinical strategy, and advancement of Pediatric Surgery
  • Quality Leadership: Lead and advance the Pediatric Surgery Quality Program and help drive initiatives focused on outcomes, safety, and clinical excellence
  • Established Team: Join a collaborative team of 7 pediatric surgeons supported by APPs and trainees
  • Clinical Practice: Maintain a broad spectrum pediatric surgical practice including minimally invasive, robotic, trauma, neonatal, and complex surgical care
  • Mentorship: Support the professional development of faculty, trainees, residents, and medical students
  • Advanced Resources: Practice within a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center with ECMO capabilities and ELSO Center of Excellence designation
  • Comprehensive Care: 88 bed Level IV NICU and 16 bed PICU supporting high acuity neonatal and pediatric care
  • Academic Environment: Participate in medical education and pursue opportunities for clinical and population based research
  • Program Development: Contribute to strategic initiatives, clinical growth, quality improvement, and the future direction of the pediatric surgical program
  • Collaborative Environment: Partner with multidisciplinary pediatric specialists and institutional leaders across UK HealthCare
  • Regional Referral Network: Serve a large regional catchment area of more than 1.6 million people

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
  • Completion of General Surgery residency
  • Completion of Pediatric Surgery fellowship
  • Board-eligible/board-certified in General Surgery and Pediatric Surgery
  • Eligible for Kentucky medical licensure
  • Academic experience preferred
