Our partner, a community based, private not-for-profit 25-bed critical access hospital in Northwest Kansas, is seeking a general surgeon to join our medical staff. With their new medical campus completed in January 2026, the state-of-the-art surgical suite is designed to support advanced specialized procedures with precision, innovation and exceptional patient care.  Primarily outpatient practice focus allows for a great work/life balance with a four-day work week and low call back volumes. Benefits and Compensation:

  • $12,000 Relocation allowance
  • Sign on bonus - $10,000 per year of commitment
  • $450,000-$500,00 base salary
  • $24,000 per year student loan repayment
  • $4,000 CME per year
  • Paid malpractice, license DEA and required certificates outside of CME

Responsibilities:

  • Primarily outpatient practice focus
  • Bread and butter surgeries along with endoscopy
  • On call responds to Trauma at Level 4 Trauma/ER
  • If interested in GYN/OB, that would be a great asset but not a requirement

Schedule:

  • 4-day work week and one (1) week of call per month
  • Utilize EPIC as our EMR.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine
  • Completion of a General Surgery Residency

The Kansas Recruitment and Retention Center (KRRC) partners with hospitals, private practices, community health centers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC), and other organizations to help strengthen the health care workforce in rural and urban under resourced communities across the State. KRRC services are designed to assist Kansas communities in recruiting and retaining physicians, dentists, pharmacists, physician assistants, APRNs, nurses, dental hygienists, allied health professionals, and behavioral health professionals. In addition to offering recruitment support for Kansas health care facilities and job search support to a variety of health care providers, the KRRC offers resources for CV/resume building, interview prep, and contract negotiation.

About the facility

This medical system consists of a community based, private not-for-profit 25-bed critical access hospital, a family practice clinic, and a long-term care facility. Their new medical campus was completed in January 2026 and is a state of the art 175,000 sq ft campus housing all hospital services and outpatient clinics. The state-of-the-art surgical suite is designed to support advanced specialized procedures and features three fully equipped operating rooms — including a cutting-edge hybrid procedure room. While they do not currently have a surgical robot, the space was designed for one in the future. Hospital acute care admissions in 2025 totaled 606, outpatient visits totaled 166,815, over 2,271 surgeries/procedures were performed, 208 deliveries, and 3,085 ER visits. They are served by a thriving Specialty Clinic with 43 specialty physicians and is looking at adding new lines of service. Specialists come from Salina, North Platte, NE, Hays, Wichita, and Denver, CO. They have provided cancer care for over 10 years. This outstanding medical system continuously seeks out additional ways to expand their services and offer breakthrough technology to carry out their mission of Enhancing the Lives of Those we Serve.

The community

This is a rural community of 5,570 population located in Northwest Kansas.  The community is located on Interstate 70 with a total population of 8,000.  In providing OB services for the surrounding region, the clinic draws patients from a nine-county area.  This rural community offers a quality lifestyle with affordable housing and an outstanding public school system.  A wide variety of outdoor sports and recreational attractions are available locally and within the area. The community is known as “the Oasis on the Plains”, an image due to its progressive educational, medical, cultural and commercial facilities.
