UVA Physicians Group is seeking experienced and driven physician leaders to step into newly created Medical Director roles overseeing their Community Physician Group (CPG). This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a clinician ready to make a meaningful impact across a large, well-supported outpatient network.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $10,000 sign-on bonus
  • Competitive wRVU-based compensation — details discussed with recruiter
    • Years 1–2: Guaranteed annual compensation of $275,375 structured accordingly: 
      • $257,815 base salary + $27,500 guaranteed incentive
      • Providers may earn additional compensation through the wRVU productivity model if production exceeds the guaranteed threshold.
      • Sign-on Bonus offered
    • After Year 2: Compensation transitions to the applicable base salary plus a wRVU-based productivity incentive model.
  • $5,000 annual CME allowance
  • 22.5 days PTO + paid holidays
  • Full benefits including occurrence-based malpractice coverage (no tail required)

Requirements

  • MD or DO 
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible required
  • Family Medicine preferred; Internal Medicine considered
  • Minimum 5 years of post-residency clinical experience
  • Medical Director experience of an outpatient practice required
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. — no visa sponsorship available

UVA Physicians Group (UPG) was founded in 1979 in support of UVA Medical Center and UVA School of Medicine. For over 40 years, UPG has been committed to improving the lives of UVA Health physicians & providers and to the mission, vision and values of UVA Health in service to our patients throughout the region.

UPG is an administratively supported group practice which operates as a collaborative UVA Health entity supporting UVA Health physicians & providers at UVA Medical Center and in a growing number of Clinical Practice Group (CPG) locations throughout Charlottesville and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Over 900 UVA clinical faculty members are dually employed through UPG and UVA School of Medicine's 21 clinical departments. UPG also employs nearly 200 advanced practice providers and other clinicians with UVA clinical departments, and approximately 150 physicians, advanced practice providers & clinicians in practices locally and regionally.

In addition to its clinical role in supporting the University’s mission to deliver world-class patient care, UPG provides administrative and financial functions which support care delivery and clinical management. Approximately 400 UPG team members fulfill these administrative and financial roles in Charlottesville locations and in clinics across the Commonwealth.

UPG is an independent 501(c)3 University Associated Organization (UAO), and is governed by its own Board of Directors with a public majority.

Culpeper, VA

Centrally located between Washington, DC, and the home of Thomas Jefferson in Charlottesville to the south, lies Culpeper, the ideal mustering point for great Virginia adventures. Nestled in the Piedmont River Valley between the Rappahannock and Rapidan Rivers, the Culpeper area offers outstanding outdoor adventures, a well-preserved historic downtown with quaint boutiques, restaurants, gourmet shops, and antique stores, and beautiful Virginia countryside.  Just 30 minutes to an hour south are James Madison's Montpelier in Orange County, and Thomas Jefferson's Monticello and James Monroe's Ash Lawn-Highland in Charlottesville, VA.  To the east, a one-day circuit trip covers several significant battlefields of the Civil War, including the Battles of Brandy Station, Cedar Mountain, Kelly's Ford, Chancellorsville, Wilderness and Fredericksburg.  En route, within one hour's drive north to Washington D.C., you can stop at Manassas Battlefield Park, Arlington National Cemetery and Mount Vernon. There are countless museums, monuments and landmarks inside the District of Columbia.  Just west of Culpeper, the lush Piedmont "horse country" rolls into the breath-taking views of the Rappahannock countryside and on to Virginia's Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
