GENERAL SUMMARY:

The incumbent will be appointed at the rank of non-tenure earning Assistant Professor on the clinical educator track in the Cognitive Division, Department of Neurology at the University of Miami School of Medicine.

He/she will have a strong clinical and research background in the areas of clinical or translational research in Cognitive/Memory Disorders Diseases

The incumbent will be involved in the clinical care of patients at the Comprehensive Center for Brain Health Clinic (Boca Medical Plaza).

The incumbent will also actively participate in research projects, working on existing and future grants, as well as educational and mentorship activities of the Cognitive Division and the Department of Neurology.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

  • Care for patients in the UHealth and Jackson Health System outpatient settings
  • Train/mentor physicians, staff,
  • Preparation and presentation at teaching conferences
  • Support the research program in Memory Diseases
  • Obtain data and results that can be used to submit an application for future clinical research awards

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and experience:

  • Requires an MD degree from a recognized accredited University (or foreign equivalent). Cognitive/Memory disorders Fellowship is also required and board certification in Neurology is strongly recommended.
  • Eligible for Florida Medical License.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Good communications skills (face to face, over the phone and in writing)
  • Excellent customer service skills Ability to work collaboratively with other employees.
  • Good organizational skills.

WORK CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Work conditions: work is performed in an indoor office environment. Subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Physical Activity Requirements:
    • Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or by telephone.
    • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate keyboard and other office equipment.
    • Reaching to retrieve and maintain files.
    • Bending, pushing, moving and lifting files, documents, and objects weighing up to approximately 15-20 pounds.
