The Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Ambulatory Care provides executive leadership to the medical staff and ambulatory services for the RHM in order to assist them in fulfilling their mission, plans and objectives that includes their responsibilities to the patient and the community for the provision of quality and cost effective care. Acts as a champion for enhancing quality of care, comprehensive health care delivery, patients’ experience of care and patient safety throughout ambulatory settings. Serves as an internal consultant to executive and physician leaders throughout Medical Group and Physician Services division in providing strategic direction in the areas of quality, access, productivity, physician compensation and physician engagement; including, but not limited to, employed physician network development, succession planning, ambulatory and post-acute accreditation, physician alignment, collaboration models, patient-centered care, clinical integration and accountable care. Ongoing liaison with the Clinical Integration Network (CIN) of Trinity Health. In this capacity, provides clinical and physician leadership to population health and alternative payment model strategy and operational performance. Provides leadership and support to system level and local efforts to redesign models of care to deliver triple aim care to accountable populations. Supports the CHIO with clinical process redesign, clinical informatics and leveraging enabling technology such as the TogetherCare (Epic) within the medical group and CIN division. Fosters dialogue and collaborates with physician leaders to promote improvements in clinical quality indicators and clinical outcomes, Serves as a member of Medical Group’s senior management team.
The CMO has a matrix reporting relationship to the CEO of St. Joseph’s Health and Trinity Health Senior Vice President of Medical Groups & Ambulatory. In all roles and activities, it is anticipated that the CMO will network and build consensus, collaborate, and problem solve. This position will play a key role in the implementation of strategic and operating plans, service line development, focusing in particular on strategies for physician relationships and service line development. These activities and initiatives shall be accomplished through the existing and revised formal medical staff structures/committees, Medical Group/Health Network and voluntary medical staff multi- facility physician task forces, committees as well as the CEO and Executive Team meetings and informative relationships.

Position Accountabilities:
a) Provides an effective bridge between RHM management staff and facilities medical staffs to create superior relationships with physicians and to secure physician input into major decisions.
b) Works with senior leadership and VP of Strategy to expand ambulatory partnerships with a focus on ACO/CIN development, ASCs and other non-acute services.
d) Works collaboratively to set and achieve ambulatory and post-acute clinical quality goals and objectives, including: HEDIS measures, ACO and related quality measures, ambulatory service standards, differentiating care experience and experience of care measures, clinical outcome indicators, care coordination improvement strategies and tactics, patient safety, and risk management
e) Supports the formal medical staff function at all facilities. May chair committees as is appropriate. Works closely with the facility President and Medical Staff President. Holds self out as a resource in dealing with difficult medical staff decisions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate from an accredited medical school and completed an accredited residency program in a medical specialty.
Board certification in field of specialty and agree to maintain such Board Certification through tenure of employment. Board certification is required in an ABMS Board.
Graduation from an accredited university with a Master's in Business Administration, a Masters in Healthcare Administration or related experience preferred .
Ability to work in a complex matrix-reporting environment.
Proven leader with minimum of 15 years in clinical practice, 5 years in leadership.
Demonstrated ability to lead and implement quality improvement initiatives.
Demonstrated ability to lead medical staff quality initiatives.
Strong verbal and written communication skills required in order to effectively discuss quality issues and performance and to foster culture of the RHM and Trinity Health.
Strong leadership/influencing skills are required with the ability to work effectively within a RHM and influence others to achieve results.
Advanced interpersonal, management and organizational skills are necessary.
A personal presence which is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, values and guiding behaviors of Trinity Health.

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
