St. Peter’s Health Partners is seeking a full-time Staff Intensivist to join our Cardiac Surgery Team at St. Peter’s Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity to practice within a tertiary cardiovascular program supporting a high-performing cardiac surgery service.  The intensivist will provide comprehensive, high quality care to critically ill cardiac patients while working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment that emphasizes clinical excellence, innovation, and patient centered outcomes.

Position Highlights:

  • Dedicated Cardiac ICU within a tertiary cardiovascular program
  • 8-bed CVICU supporting an established team of 5 full time cardiac surgeons
  • Inpatient focused role with no outpatient responsibilities
  • Shift based schedule
  • Collaborative, team based environment with strong clinical and APP support

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct management of critically ill cardiac patients in the CVICU
  • Perform bedside critical care procedures, including:
    • Central line placement
    • Arterial line placement
    • Pulmonary artery (PA) catheter placement
    • Endotracheal intubation
  • Manage patients with advanced cardiac support devices, including Impella and ECMO
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and care planning discussions
  • Collaborate closely with cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, anesthesia, and nursing staff
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical protocols and best practices
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and patient safety efforts

  • Multidisciplinary care model including cardiac surgery, cardiology, anesthesia, and critical care teams
  • Strong Advanced Practice Provider support model
  • Highly skilled cardiac ICU trained nursing staff
  • Emphasis on teamwork, communication, and continuous clinical improvement

Schedule & Call:

  • Schedule Mon-Fri 7am-3pm
  • Inpatient only role
  • Call expectations incorporated into shift structure

Qualifications:

  • Board certification or eligibility in one of the following:
    • Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine
    • Cardiology with Critical Care training
    • Anesthesia Critical Care
    • CT Surgery-trained intensivist track
  • Experience managing complex cardiac ICU patients, including mechanical circulatory support
  • Strong clinical and collaborative skills
  • Commitment to quality improvement and patient-centered care

Recruitment Package:

St. Peter’s Health Partners offers a comprehensive compensation package including:

  • Base Salary Range: $425-475k
  • Starting Bonus 25k
  • Relocation Assistance up to 25k
