Job Description

ECU Health Physicians and East Carolina University’s Brody School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine, located in Greenville, North Carolina, are seeking a board-eligible/board-certified Family Medicine physician to join the department in a fixed term, or tenure track, academic position.  The physician will provide direct patient care and supervise the care rendered by medical students in a clinical practice that serves as a learning center. Teaching will occur during daily rounds, case reviews and didactic lectures. The positions will report to the Medical Student Education Division of the department. Candidates with 3 or more years of outpatient experience preferred.    

The Department of Family Medicine is one of 11 clinical departments at East Carolina University's Brody School of Medicine. The Department of Family Medicine at ECU is a nationally recognized leader in Family Medicine education. The department’s main facility offers a wide variety of comprehensive primary care services for all age groups to include: geriatrics, sports medicine, obstetrical care, office-based procedures, nutrition services, counseling, and psychological support in an integrated care model.  

Opportunity Highlights Include: 

  • Employment by ECU Health Physicians-Academic Employment Model 
  • Outpatient clinical responsibilities located at an innovative Primary Care Learning Center- The Learning Center is located in a medically underserved area of Greenville. The team includes 2 Physicians and 1 Advanced Practice Provider and medical students
  • Monday – Friday work week, call limited to phone only 
  • Ambulatory primary care activities and supervision of 3rd and 4th year medical students.  PA, NP, nursing, and allied health learners, under the supervision of their respective faculty, will participate in daily teaching rounds, case reviews, clinic huddles, and end-of-day feedback sessions 
  • Additional leadership and teaching opportunities may also be available 
  • Opportunities to develop administrative and scholarship skills 
  • Required: ACLS & BCLS certifications

Brody School of Medicine

The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University has trained physicians for more than 50 years as the only allopathic medical school in North Carolina’s Atlantic Coastal Plain. The school’s mission is to increase the supply of primary care physicians to meet the state’s medical needs, especially in the east.
