Opportunity Details

The University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, is seeking an experienced and academically driven Associate Professor of Cardiology to join our dynamic Heart Failure and Transplant team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative, patient-centered environment focused on the comprehensive management of advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, and cardiac transplantation. 

Clinical Responsibilities: 

  • Provide specialized outpatient and inpatient care for patients with advanced heart failure, including those requiring mechanical circulatory support (LVAD) and heart transplantation. 
  • Manage complex heart failure cases, including evaluation and optimization of guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT). 
  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of candidates for advanced therapies, including transplant and durable mechanical support. 
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team including cardiothoracic surgery, transplant coordinators, intensivists, and other subspecialties. 
  • Support post-transplant and LVAD patient management, including longitudinal follow-up and complication management. 

Academic and Leadership Responsibilities: 

  • Participate in clinical research initiatives in heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, and transplantation, with expectation of scholarly productivity. 
  • Teach and mentor medical students, residents, fellows, and junior faculty within the cardiovascular division. 
  • Contribute to the advancement of the Heart Failure and Transplant program through innovation, quality improvement, and program development. 
  • Provide leadership in multidisciplinary team initiatives and support institutional priorities in high-acuity cardiovascular care. 
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of advances in heart failure therapies and integrate evidence-based practices into clinical care. 

Qualifications: 

  • MD or DO degree with board certification in Cardiovascular Disease; board certification/eligibility in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology preferred. 
  • Completion of fellowship training in Cardiovascular Disease and Advanced Heart Failure/Transplant Cardiology. 
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of advanced heart failure, transplant patients, and mechanical circulatory support. 
  • Established academic track record appropriate for appointment at the Associate Professor level. 
  • Strong clinical, teaching, and collaborative skills within a multidisciplinary environment.
