Leadership Opportunity in a Nationally Recognized Liver Transplant Program

The Yale School of Medicine seeks an accomplished Medical Director of Liver Transplantation to lead the Yale New Haven Hospital Liver Transplant Program. This full-time faculty position is available at the Associate Professor or Professor level and offers an exceptional opportunity to shape the future of a highly regarded transplant program within one of the nation's leading academic health systems.

The Medical Director will provide strategic and clinical leadership for the liver transplant program, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering outstanding patient care, advancing research, and educating the next generation of transplant specialists.

Position Highlights

The Medical Director will:

• Lead a team of transplant hepatologists within a mature and growing liver transplant program.
• Oversee clinical operations across the transplant continuum, ensuring excellence in patient care and outcomes.
• Direct recipient selection activities and multidisciplinary transplant review processes.
• Provide leadership for quality, safety, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement initiatives.
• Expand and strengthen regional outreach and referral relationships through transplant outreach clinics.
• Partner closely with transplant surgery, nursing, administration, and other key stakeholders to drive program growth and innovation.

Academic and Research Opportunities

As a faculty member within Yale School of Medicine's nationally recognized Section of Digestive Diseases, the successful candidate will:

• Teach and mentor medical students, residents, gastroenterology fellows, and transplant hepatology fellows.
• Participate in educational conferences, grand rounds, and scholarly activities.
• Develop and pursue clinical, translational, and outcomes-based research initiatives.
• Collaborate with colleagues across Yale's robust academic and research enterprise.
• Contribute to the continued growth and national prominence of Yale's hepatology and transplant programs.

Qualifications

Required

• MD or equivalent medical degree.
• Board Certification in Gastroenterology.
• Board Certification in Transplant Hepatology.
• Eligibility for medical licensure in Connecticut.
• Demonstrated excellence in clinical hepatology and liver transplantation.

Preferred

• Prior leadership experience within a liver transplant or transplant hepatology program.
• Track record of academic achievement, teaching, and scholarly activity.
• Experience leading quality, patient safety, and program development initiatives.
• Qualifications consistent with appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level.
