Come be a part of an exceptional academic Emergency Medicine program in the heart of Washington, D.C.

Academic Emergency Medicine Partners (AEMP), an independent academic clinical practice group affiliated with The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences, is seeking full-time Emergency Medicine Clinical Faculty physicians to join the Department of Emergency Medicine.  The Department provides Emergency Medicine staffing at George Washington University Hospital, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and the Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

In addition to providing care across these distinctive clinical environments, the Department sponsors a four-year Emergency Medicine residency program, multiple fellowship programs, and a robust research infrastructure, offering faculty extensive opportunities for teaching, scholarship, research, and professional development.

Positions are anticipated to begin as early as October 2026.

Faculty position responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high-quality clinical and consultative Emergency Medicine care
  • Providing bedside instruction and supervision to fellows, residents, medical students, and other health sciences learners
  • Participating in departmental administrative responsibilities, meetings, Grand Rounds, and other department-wide activities
  • Pursuing scholarly and research interests and maintaining active academic involvement
  • Joining at least one departmental interest section and collaborating with faculty to advance research, publications, education, and other scholarly initiatives

Qualifications - Applicants must:

  • Be Emergency Medicine residency trained
  • Be board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) or American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (ABOEM), or be in the certification process following completion of an eligible Emergency Medicine residency program
  • Be eligible for medical licensure in the District of Columbia at the time of appointment

Faculty Appointment & Compensation

These are non-tenure track academic faculty positions with appointments available at the rank of Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, commensurate with clinical and academic experience.

Salary to commensurate with experience and academic rank.

Walter Reed National Military Medical Center

  • MHS Genesis EMR
  • Approximately 26,749 annual patient volume
  • The President's Hospital and flagship of military medicine
  • Level II Trauma Center
  • Multi-million-dollar state-of-the-art modernization and upgrades
  • Approximately 15–20% admission rate

Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center

  • VistA EMR
  • Approximately 23,000 annual patient volume
  • 17 treatment beds with 4 dedicated triage bays
  • Clinical training site for residents
  • Approximately 36% admission rate
  • Level III Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation
