Job Description

NEONATOLOGIST – LEVEL III & LEVEL II NICUs

University of Chicago Medicine Community Practice | Northwest Indiana

Position Highlights:

  • Balanced Community Practice: Meaningful neonatal acuity without the demands of a large quaternary referral center 
  • Work-Life Balance: Approximately eight 24-hour shifts per month with block scheduling available
  • Level III and Level II NICU Practice:
    • 2 campus locations 20 minutes apart - no same-day cross-campus coverage
    • Maintain Level III acuity while balancing shifts in a lower-acuity Level II setting
    • Transfers supported by UChicago Medicine’s Hyde Park campus
  • University of Chicago Affiliation: University of Chicago academic appointment
  • Moonlighting Available: Extra shifts available across UChicago community campus locations

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive Compensation: $260K–$290K based on experience
  • Moonlighting: $125/hour
  • Signing Bonus: $10K
  • Paid Time Off: 30 total vacation and professional-development days

Qualifications

  • Certifications:  BC/BE in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine
  • Licensure: Eligible for medical licensure in Indiana and Illinois
  • Skillset: Comfortable independently managing a NICU including neonatal intubation and stabilization
  • Experience:  Level IV or high acuity Level III NICU experience required
