Esse Health, one of the largest independent physician-owned medical groups in the St. Louis region, is seeking Board Certified or Board Eligible Internal Medicine and Family Medicine physicians interested in flexible, outpatient PRN opportunities throughout our network of primary care practices.

This opportunity is ideal for physicians seeking supplemental clinical work, schedule flexibility, phased retirement, or the ability to maintain patient care responsibilities without a full-time commitment.

Please note: This is not a locum position. Local candidates preferred.

Position Highlights:

  • Deliver proactive, longitudinal, team-based care focused on prevention, quality outcomes, and patient well-being
  • Outpatient-only primary care setting
  • Flexible scheduling based on physician availability and practice needs
  • No hospital call or inpatient responsibilities
  • Clinics are open Monday through Friday with no nights, weekends, or holidays
  • Minimal outpatient after-hours call on days worked; phone-only and extremely low volume
  • Coverage opportunities across multiple St. Louis-area locations, with initial needs primarily in the South County region
  • Established practices supported by experienced clinical, operational, and administrative teams
  • Care Management and Hospital at Home resources available to extend care beyond the clinic setting
  • NextGen EMR with AI technology tools available
  • Competitive hourly compensation

Candidate Qualifications:

  • MD or DO
  • Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible with plans to certify (ABMS or AOA)
  • Active Missouri medical license or eligibility to obtain Missouri licensure
  • Strong commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care
  • Ability to provide in-person clinical coverage at St. Louis-area practice locations

This position is intended for physicians residing in or near the Greater St. Louis area. Travel, lodging, and relocation assistance are not provided.
