Saratoga Hospital Occupational Medicine is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Medical Director to join our team.

Clinical Oversight and Care

  • Injury Management: Evaluate, diagnose, and treat work-related injuries.
  • Medical Surveillance: Oversee medical clearance, immunization programs, exposure management, and routine health testing (e.g., hearing conservation, respiratory clearance).
  • Fitness-for-Duty & Return-to-Work: Conduct complex evaluations to determine an employee's physical and mental capacity to perform their job safely and guide their reintegration into the workplace.
  • Direct Patient Care: Provide direct clinical care, especially for complicated or escalated occupational cases.

Medical Leadership & Administration

  • Team Management: Assist with recruitment, training and clinically supervising Advanced Practice Providers (NPs/PAs). Available for consultation regarding case management by Employee Health RNs as well as APPs in Occupational Medicine and Employee Health Services. Interact with Infection Prevention department for exposures that may impact employees.
  • Policy Development: Develop and implement evidence-based clinical protocols, corporate occupational health policies, and Hospital Employee Health Services.
  • Quality Improvement: Monitor clinical outcomes, track performance metrics, and implement quality assurance initiatives to optimize care.

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Mitigation

  • Regulatory Adherence: Ensure the organization complies with federal, state, and local safety mandates, including OSHA, CDC, NYS DOH, and DOT regulations.
  • Worker’s Compensation: Provide clinical expertise and documentation to support worker's compensation cases, acting as a liaison between the employer, insurer, and legal teams.
  • Be aware of and Follow NYSWCB Medical Treatment Guidelines.
  • Drug & Alcohol Programs: Serve as the Medical Review Officer (MRO) to review and interpret workplace drug testing results.

 Interdepartmental Collaboration

  • Human Resources: Advise HR on disability management, ADA accommodations, and leave policies.
  • Employer/Client Relations: Collaborate with regional businesses to provide customized occupational medicine services.

 Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Degree in Medicine (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certification: Board-certified or board-eligible in Occupational and Environmental Medicine (OEM). (certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine with 5 years of occupational experience are accepted).
  • Licensing: Active New York license
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in occupational health or am urgent care/emergency medicine setting with significant occupational medicine component, with proven leadership and supervisory experience.
  • Certifications:
    • DOT: Certified Medical Examiner on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME).
    • MRO: Medical Review Officer certification (MROCC).
    • NYS WCB treatment and IME certification
  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of workers' compensation laws, ADA regulations, and OSHA standards.
