Dean McGee Eye Institute (DMEI) has an opening for a neuro-ophthalmologist and is seeking a talented fellowship-trained ophthalmologist. This is a wonderful opportunity to assume an existing practice at a pace commensurate with your level of comfort.  This opportunity would include all aspects of medical and, if desired, surgical neuro-ophthalmic care, for the full spectrum of afferent and efferent disease in adults and older children.  We have 20 residents and up to 5 fellows annually, including a neuro-ophthalmology fellowship; preferred candidates will have interest and/or experience in working with resident and fellow trainees in the clinic and, if desired, the OR.   Each faculty has the benefit of a well-trained technician support team with subspecialty specific support as well as a personal assistant for scheduling surgeries, clinic etc.   The opportunity to practice at a satellite facility is also available depending on the individual preference, as DMEI currently has two satellite locations in the OKC metro area and one in Lawton, OK.  The majority of our surgical procedures performed are at the DMEI and OU ASCs, and additional surgeries can be performed at OU Health hospitals. 

The Institute provides more than 220,000 total patient visits annually in its 150,000 square-foot facility in downtown Oklahoma City and its 4 satellite locations.  DMEI increased the number of clinical lanes to more than 120 at the main facility over the last decade. The Dean McGee Department of Ophthalmology at the OU College of Medicine  houses many National Institutes of Health-funded investigators greatly interested in collaboration and translational research. Many of the faculty serve in national leadership positions. We have a strong residency program with 5 residents per year, as well as an AUPO-compliant neuro-ophthalmologist fellowship with one fellow per year.  Salary support is highly competitive and an endowed chair is available depending on level of experience and career achievements.

Oklahoma City is the 20^th largest city in the US, with a population of approximately 700,000 and a metropolitan area of 1.4 million.  The city is experiencing a major downtown renaissance and enjoys a low cost of living, a low unemployment rate, lots of sunshine, and numerous cultural and recreational opportunities (including NBA Thunder basketball).

Candidates must have completed an ophthalmology residency and a neuro-ophthalmology fellowship, be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Oklahoma, and be certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology (international pathway included). Fellowship training in a second subspecialty area and a mixed subspecialty practice is acceptable but not required.
