Neurosurgeon Opportunity – Cranial & Spine

We are seeking a well-rounded neurosurgeon with expertise in both spine and cranial neurosurgery to join and help grow a highly supported neurosurgical practice. This is an exceptional opportunity to step into a community with substantial unmet demand and a strong referral base, including a significant volume of neurosurgical cases currently being referred outside the region. You will practice alongside another neurosurgeon, providing collegial support and backup, while collaborating closely with a large, established neurology group that will provide robust referrals and support the nonsurgical management of appropriate patients. Our hospital also offers a Primary Stroke Center and is actively developing an epilepsy program, creating exciting opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration and continued program growth. For the right physician, this position offers the rare opportunity to build a diverse and rewarding cranial and spine practice while becoming an integral part of a collaborative team committed to bringing high-quality, advanced neurologic and neurosurgical care closer to home.

We have exciting opportunities available to provide medical care at East Alabama Health (EAH), located in one of the fastest-growing areas in the state of Alabama. The beautiful Auburn-Opelika area is centrally located between Atlanta, Birmingham, and every beach along the Gulf Coast. Plus, it is home to a diverse, tight-knit community with outstanding school systems as well as a vibrant food and entertainment industry. Auburn-Opelika is one of the largest areas of growth in the state of Alabama.

More recently, EAH has continued to make significant investments in the health infrastructure of its service area. In 2026, the organization added three new floors to its main hospital campus, creating 30 additional critical care beds and space for future expansion. That same year, EAH opened East Alabama Medical Center North, a $40 million mental health hospital featuring 40 private inpatient rooms, on-site outpatient services through East Alabama Psychiatric Services, and a psychiatry residency program. EAH is also continuing to expand cancer services to meet the growing needs of the region.

East Alabama Medical Center (EAMC), the flagship campus of EAH, was recently featured on Newsweek’s 2025 list of America’s Best-In-State Hospitals and Becker's Hospital Review's 2025 List of Top 150 Places to Work in Healthcare. In addition, EAMC has been recognized as a top provider in patient safety, patient experience, minimally invasive surgery, orthopedics and cancer care by Women’s Choice Award.

The medical staff at EAH has experienced growth comparable to the area. The physicians here are some of the finest in the medical field and we continue to hire the best of the best. Over the past 6 years, more than 140 physicians have been recruited to East Alabama Health. We are looking to recruit additional adult and child/adolescent psychiatrists to meet our community’s growing needs.
