The OMT Attending Physician provides direct supervision, teaching, and clinical oversight for the Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) Clinic within the Samaritan Family Medicine Residency Clinic (SFMRC). The attending physician supports resident education and patient care by supervising the evaluation and osteopathic manipulative treatment of patients referred to the OMT Clinic by residency faculty, residents, and community providers.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct supervision of resident physicians performing osteopathic evaluations and osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) within the SFMRC OMT Clinic.
• Review patient histories, assessments, diagnoses of somatic dysfunction, and treatment plans to ensure safe and appropriate care.
• Teach and mentor resident physicians in osteopathic principles, clinical reasoning, patient selection, and OMT techniques.
• Confirm resident competency and provide formative feedback regarding OMT knowledge, procedural skills, and professionalism.
• Serve as the supervising physician of record and ensure clinical care is provided in accordance with residency program, institutional, and regulatory requirements.
• Promote evidence-informed, patient-centered musculoskeletal care through the appropriate use of OMT.
• Maintain appropriate clinical documentation and billing oversight consistent with organizational and residency program policies.

Scope of Clinic: The SFMRC OMT Clinic serves patients referred for evaluation and treatment of conditions that may benefit from osteopathic manipulative treatment. Resident physicians perform patient assessments and OMT under the direct supervision of the OMT Attending Physician. The attending physician is responsible for clinical oversight, resident education, and ensuring the quality and safety of care provided during clinic sessions.
