Regional Medical Director

Sanitas Medical Center is seeking an experienced Regional Medical Director to provide clinical leadership and oversight across 8 primary care locations in the Orlando, Florida market. This is an opportunity for an established physician leader to work closely with Medical Directors, physicians, advanced practice providers, center leadership, and executive management to support high-quality, patient-centered care across the region.

• Provide clinical input on policies, protocols, programs, and care delivery initiatives.

Key Areas of Leadership

The Regional Medical Director will help support initiatives focused on:

• Clinical quality and patient outcomes

• Medicare Advantage and value-based care

• Population health and preventive care

• Care coordination and transitions of care

• Healthcare utilization and resource management

• Emergency department and inpatient utilization

• Hospital readmission reduction

• Specialist referrals and referral management

• Clinical documentation, coding, and risk adjustment

• Provider engagement and performance

• Physician leadership and development

• Regional clinical standards and best practices

• Collaboration between clinical and operational teams

• Improving quality while managing the total cost of care

Qualifications

Required:

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Primary Care Medical Director

• Previous Medical Director experience in Family Medicine or Primary Care

• Experience providing clinical leadership to physicians and/or advanced practice providers

• Experience with Medicare Advantage, value-based care, managed care, risk-based care, or population health

• Strong understanding of primary care, clinical quality, care coordination, population health, and utilization management

• Understanding of healthcare utilization and cost drivers, including ED visits, hospitalizations, readmissions, and specialist referrals

• Ability to work effectively with clinical, operational, and executive leadership

• Strong communication, leadership, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills

• Commitment to patient-centered care and improved health outcomes

Preferred:

• Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or another appropriate primary care specialty

• Experience managing Medicare Advantage or other risk-based populations

• Experience with quality metrics, utilization management, risk adjustment, and clinical performance improvement

• Experience leading multiple primary care locations or geographically distributed clinical teams

• Experience with physician recruitment, development, and performance management

• Experience with clinical documentation, coding, and reimbursement

• Experience developing strategies to reduce avoidable ED visits, hospitalizations, and readmissions

• Experience with specialist referral management and healthcare utilization
