Highlights of Practice and Expectations:

A permanent full-time Psychiatrist is being sought to become part of the Great Plains Behavioral Health Team. Practice in a new beautiful 19-bed acute inpatient Behavioral Health Unit adjacent to the new outpatient BHS clinic located within the hospital.  EPIC EMR is used hospital wide.

Bring your family to a safe and family oriented community located in west central Nebraska.  Travel is easy by car to an international airport in Denver, Colorado which is just 3 1/2 hours on the interstate; or you can take a 40 minute flight from our regional airport to Denver.

The hospital is a not for profit, independent community hospital.

Requirements:

  • ABMS Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry
  • Nursing home visits may be required 1 to 2 days a month

Expectations:

  • Minimum work week is Monday through Friday with 1 in 4 call; weekend call includes daily rounding on all inpatients on the unit.
  • Call includes hospital consults, ER admits as well as regular admissions to the unit.
  • Mixed inpatient unit consists of adolescents (ages 15 and over) and adults
  • Average inpatient census for unit 12-15 patients; outpatient clinic 15-20 patients per day per physician.
  • Effective communication with referring physicians.
  • Effective and timely communication with other psychiatrists in handing off patients.
  • Group follows national guidelines and standards for evidence-based pharmacological treatment.

Treatment team, including our physicians, consists of the following:

    • Clinical Therapist and MSW-Primarily does all the family therapy
    • BSW-Responsible for the discharge planning, legal work including letter writing, etc.
    • Recreational Therapist-
    • Nursing staff consists of Registered nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Techs
