Program Director – General Surgery Residency Program

Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, OH is seeking a Program Director to lead the hospital in the development and implementation of a new ACGME accredited General Surgery Residency Program. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, motivated leader to have input on building a program from the ground up. The medical center is planning to have the program in place by 2023.


  • Previous experience as a Program Director, Associate Program Director, or Core Faculty in an ACGME-accredited General Surgery program

  • Clinically active in General Surgery

  • Board Certified in General Surgery

  • Maintain current medical licensure to practice medicine in the State of Ohio

  • Unrestricted credentials

  • Strong administrative and team building skills


  • Be willing to eventually combine Administrative and Didactic Responsibilities (50/50)

  • Administer, maintain, and lead the core faculty and educational environment

  • Pursue scholarly activities including presenting at scientific society meetings, participation in national committees and/or educational organizations
