As a General Surgeon, you’ll examine, diagnose, treat, rehabilitate, and perform surgery for patients with injuries or disorders. You’ll lead medical units, provide patient care, conduct medical research on diseases, and develop disease prevention and health programs to help improve patient outcomes and advance treatment practices the medical field.
As a general surgeon and officer on the U.S. Army healthcare team, you will be at the forefront of advanced surgical procedures, work in state-of-the-art medical facilities with some of the most innovative equipment used in your specialty. You will lead a well-trained surgical team who examine, diagnose and evaluate a course of surgeries and treatments for a diverse patient base, while feeling none of the distractions found in a civilian practice, such as office management, malpractice or overhead. If you choose the Army Reserve, you can continue to work in your community and serve when needed. For either path you choose, you will work as a part of a multidisciplinary team, surrounded by dedicated professionals who share your values and a passion for excellence.
