LGBTQ Medical Director - Hackensack, New Jersey
MEDICAL DIRECTOR, PRIMARY CARE
HACKENSACK UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER
Hackensack, New Jersey
The Department of Internal Medicine at Hackensack University Medical Center is seeking a medical director/clinician to establish the Health Care Center serving the LGBTQ Community. This center will provide culturally sensitive healthcare and support services, both primary and specialty care, specifically targeting the needs of the adolescent and adult LGBTQ community in Northern New Jersey.
Hackensack University Medical Center is uniquely suited to provide such a program having earned the coveted status of “Leader in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality” since 2015. This honor is based upon the Human Rights Campaign’s Healthcare Equality Index, a national benchmarking tool which evaluates healthcare facilities for equity and inclusion of LGBTQ patients, visitors and employees. This index is used by LGTBQ patients, and their loved ones, to find facilities with a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Healthcare facilities must meet the “Core Four” criteria for LGBTQ patient-centered care: patient non-discrimination & staff training; patient services & support; employee benefits and policies; and patient and community engagement. Hackensack University Medical Center earned a perfect score in all four categories. Only 302 facilities nationwide earned this designation.
The Center will provide comprehensive and compassionate care, readily accessible and rooted in equality, respect and understanding, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning patients have historically been an underserved community with unique healthcare needs. We aim to eradicate long-standing health disparities while furthering the care, research, educational, and service goals of the Hackensack Meridian Health Network.
The successful candidate will have graduated from an approved medical school, BC/BE in either internal medicine or family medicine and the ability to obtain professional licensure in the State of New Jersey.
