Pediatric Sickle Cell Program Director

The Division of Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT) is seeking a new faculty member to lead our Sickle Cell Program. Applicants must possess a medical degree and have certification in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of post-fellowship experience in treating patients with Sickle Cell Disease.

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide excellent clinical care for children and adolescents with Sickle Cell Disease. We are seeking a visionary leader with clinical, academic, research, and education experience.

Children’s Mercy Kansas City has a full-service sickle cell program that follows approximately 300 patients from infancy until 21 years of age. This program has a full complement of staffing including one other faculty physician, two advance practice nurses, a social worker, psychologist, research nurse, and data manager. We are a regional center for Missouri and have been actively involved in many NIH and industry clinical trials. The Division of Hematology/Oncology/BMT has a robust coagulation service and is a Hemophilia Treatment Center. We see approximately 200 newly diagnosed children with cancer every year and perform 35-40 transplants annually. The entire division has 24 attendings and at least 6 fellows.
