It is located approximately 70 miles south of Cleveland on the Tuscarawas River. With a population of just over 20,000 people, the city boasts a strong infrastructure while maintaining its small-town charm. New Philadelphia is adjacent to the city of Dover, which is almost the same size. The two cities are considered to be twin cities. The community offers a blend of the traditional and modern, punctuated by an extensive system of parks, lakes, cultural activities and recreational facilities.

The new Performing Arts Center at Kent State University Tuscarawas in New Philadelphia is a contemporary 1100-seat theater featuring national tours of hit Broadway musical and dramatic stage productions, musical performers, comedians, and children's productions. The PAC is home to the excellent Tuscarawas County Philharmonic Orchestra. We are home to "Trumpet in the Land", Ohio's official outdoor drama, a community theater group, and artists and lecture series at KSU Tuscarawas.

Sports are a way of life in our region with many private and public golf courses as well as numerous lakes for fishing, boating and sailing. Not far from the Pro Football Hall of Fame, we also offer many sports opportunities for youth as well as adults including basketball, baseball, soccer, football, swimming, tennis and more.

Runners, hikers, bikers and families who like to explore have plenty of options including the recreation of the Towpath Trail. Where mules and barges once maintained the area's commerce, the 110-mile trail from Cleveland to New Philadelphia offers places of tranquility, hidden views of wildlife, and artifacts of the original settlers.

Set in the picturesque, rolling hills of eastern Ohio, our region is home to a large Amish community relying on horse-and-buggy travel. By contrast, our interstate highways put us minutes from major airports and the rich cultural benefits of Cleveland, Columbus, Pittsburgh and Akron. Our local airport regularly accommodates many private jets.

This four-season community will have outdoor enthusiasts thrilled with over 40,000 acres of Metro Parks for year-round enjoyment. Northeast Ohio is gaining a reputation as a world-class center for research and development in a variety of high-tech industries, and has become a premiere destination to work, live, play, shop and dine!
