Nuclear Cardiologist - Saint Luke's Mid America Heart Institute - Kansas City, MO

The Mid America Heart Institute and Saint Luke’s Health System in Kansas City is seeking a BC/BE cardiologist with advanced Level III training in Nuclear Cardiology, including PET.


About the position 

•    The candidate will be joining six nuclear cardiologists – Dr. Tim Bateman (former president of ASNC), Dr. Kevin Bybee, Dr. Iain McGhie, Dr. James O’Keefe, Dr. Randall Thompson (former president of ASNC), and Dr. Brett Sperry
•    The department has 4 nuclear cardiology laboratories located in each of the SLHS hospitals across the KC metro area
•    Each site has PET-CT and SPECT capabilities, including digital PET cameras at MAHI on the plaza, Saint Luke’s East & Saint Luke’s South. All studies are processed and interpreted centrally at the main campus, located at the MAHI
•    Approximately 8,000 nuclear studies are performed annually, with the majority being PET studies
•    All the laboratories provide comprehensive nuclear cardiology services including flow quantification with PET myocardial perfusion studies, F18 FDG PET studies for assessment of myocardial viability as well as infective and infiltration processes; Attenuation-corrected CZT and Anger SPECT myocardial perfusion and pyrophosphate studies for our Cardiac Amyloid Clinic
•    The program is supported by dedicated physics and IT expertise
•    The group and institution are affiliated with the University of Missouri – Kansas City, and the cardiology group is an integral component of the Cardiovascular Fellowship Program, which also is ACGME-accredited in Advanced Heart Failure, Electrophysiology and Interventional Cardiology
•    The applicant would be encouraged to play a role in the Cardiovascular Fellowship Program and be involved in clinical research
•    Expertise in additional cardiac imaging modalities is not a prerequisite, accommodations will be made according to the applicants training, expertise and interests
