Seeking Offsite Embryology and Andrology Lab Director!

Description:

The Director will provide leadership and oversite to the operational, technical and scientific function of the embryology and andrology laboratories. 

Requirements:

The laboratory director must hold an earned doctoral degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution.  Meets the qualifications for a high complexity laboratory director (HCLD) under the CLIA ’88 regulations, 42 CFR 493.1443(b)(3)(i).  Candidates must have five years of documented pertinent experience in a program performing IVF-related procedures.

The director must possess the appropriate training and qualification to meet the following responsibilities:

  • Operations – Responsible for the daily operations of the andrology and embryology laboratories. Formulate laboratory policies and protocols, provide leadership, training, and guidance to laboratory staff performing assisted reproductive technology (ART) laboratory procedures.
  • Interactions with Others – Available on a routine basis for interaction with physicians, clinic staff, laboratory staff, and administrative officials. Maintains a travel schedule for routine onsite visits.
  • Standards of Performance – Define, implement, and monitor standards of performance in the clinical embryology and andrology laboratory for quality control, quality improvement, and clinical success.
  • Proficiency Testing – Ensure that the laboratory is enrolled in a proficiency testing (PT) program that covers the extent and complexity of the testing and medical treatment performed by the laboratory. Monitor the results of all proficiency testing and ensure that such testing is properly performed, and document corrective actions when applicable.
  • Records and Correlation of Laboratory Data – Establish and implement an adequate system of record management and maintenance. Ensure accurate and timely documentation of laboratory results and communication of laboratory data. Monitor all work performed in the andrology and embryology laboratories to monitor laboratory performance and outcomes.
  • Personnel – Ensure that all laboratory personnel receive appropriate training for ART laboratory procedures, remain proficient in all procedures, and staffing levels remain at an appropriate level.
  • Laboratory Inspection – Coordinate, supervise and be present for the periodic, on-site inspection and interim self-inspection. Evaluate the results of such inspection and implement and document appropriate corrective actions as needed.
  • Regulatory – Conform to all American Board of Bioanalysis High-complexity Clinical Lab Director (HCLD) and American Society for Reproductive Medicine requirements. Comply with Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment of 1988, College of American Pathologists Reproductive Laboratory Accreditation Program (CAP), and the Joint Commission (TJC).
