Academic Family Medicine Faculty opportunity in Owensboro, KY

Owensboro Health/The University of Louisville, Department of Family/Geriatric Medicine is seeking core Family Medicine physician faculty for the Family Medicine Residency program located at Owensboro, Kentucky. University rank will be determined based on applicant's previous qualifications. The program started in 2020 and has 6 residents per year.

Job responsibilities: Clinical Duties, resident teaching and scholarly activities. The core faculty will have a significant role in the education and supervision of residents and will devote a significant portion of their entire effort to resident education and/or administration. The faculty will teach residents and care for patients in all settings. Administrative responsibilities will include evaluation and providing mentorship and formative feedback to residents.

General duty of all core faculty includes:

• Participation on the In-Patient Family Medicine Teaching Service at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for our assigned patients
• Supervise admissions, daily care & notes, teaching rounds, charges, etc.
• Precept Family Medicine Clinic
• Ensure quality care to their patients while teaching continuity family medicine
• Personal practice in FMC and scholarly activities
• Teach technical skills needed for comprehensive practice and procedures

Requirements: Board Certified or Board Eligible if within 5 years of training and intend to become Board Certified

Compensation details:

• $275,000 annually

Family Medicine with Maternity care in addition to above: Faculty with OB interest will act as a role model for maternity care with the goal of educating residents to become competent in providing care for normal pregnancies. This faculty will have the opportunity to provide normal and surgical deliveries (1st assist) at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in Owensboro, KY. Preferred, OB fellowship

The Owensboro Health / University of Louisville Family Medicine Residency clinic and headquarters are located at the East Parrish Campus, which is a 10-minute commute to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, where most of the clinical rotations will take place. Newly opened in 2013, our flagship facility is licensed for 477 beds and is nationally recognized for its design, architecture and engineering. 

On average each year, we have 16,000 inpatient admissions, deliver 2,000 babies and provide the region’s only Level III NICU. Owensboro Health physicians perform nearly 24,000 surgical procedures. Our physicians and staff have 70,000 Emergency Department visits and more than a million outpatient visits annually.
