The Division of Endocrinology at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, a member of the Steward Health Care System, located in Boston, Massachusetts is seeking a full time Chief of Endocrinology. The Division is seeking a board-certified candidate who is collaborative, with strong clinical and communication skills and experience in teamwork. The Chief of Endocrinology will have an active clinical practice and provide leadership to a division that includes two other endocrinologists, two advanced practice providers (APPs), and three certified diabetes educators (CDEs).  The APPs participate in both inpatient and outpatient diabetes consultative services.

St. Elizabeth’s endocrinologists, all with academic appointments at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, provide outpatient and inpatient consultative services and state-of-the-art disease management for conditions, including:

• Diabetes mellitus
• Thyroid and parathyroid disorders and nodules
• Calcium and bone disorders
• Disorders of the adrenal, pituitary and reproductive glands

Three centers, all conveniently located on St. Elizabeth’s Boston campus, offer the latest diagnostic, counseling, and treatment services.

St. Elizabeth’s also houses a Diabetes & Nutrition Center, which is staffed by a registered nurse CDE and two registered dietitian CDEs and is recognized by the American Diabetes Association. In close collaboration with our providers, the center offers diabetes self-management education and support (DSMES), insulin initiation and titration guidance, and personalized diagnosis and treatment for persons with the metabolic syndrome, type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and gestational diabetes.

Candidates for the position of Chief of Endocrinology at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center may opt to be considered for the position of Medical Director of the Steward Diabetes Care Programs, which provides services to patients with diabetes mellitus, gestational diabetes, and prediabetes across a network of six Massachusetts Steward Medical Group sites. Candidates with a special interest and personal experience in population health management with a focus on optimizing diabetes care across the continuum in a large integrated health care system and an accountable care organization may further explore this additional unique opportunity.

St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center is a 285-bed teaching hospital that serves as the referral site for the nine-hospital Steward Health Care System in Eastern Massachusetts. Coverage includes both hospital and outpatient populations. Applicant must be Board Eligible/Certified in Endocrinology. This position features a Faculty appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine commensurate with background.
