A Family Medicine Physician is needed to join the department at our Sparta Campus (Clinic and Hospital). This dynamic practice is known for its innovation and commitment to continuous improvements in primary care.

The practice includes outpatient/inpatient services. Inpatient work uses a hospital rounding model shared equally among the family physicians 1:6. When in hospital rounding, the family physicians provide 1 week coverage of the inpatient unit and ED back-up for admissions. The ED is staffed 24/7 by Emergency Medicine Physicians. Obstetrics is optional with deliveries done in La Crosse or Tomah.

The clinic and hospital at the Sparta Campus are located in one facility and utilize combined, state-of-the-art equipment for diagnostic radiology and lab services. The 25-bed, Joint Commission Accredited, critical access hospital offers same day surgery, telemetry unit with cardiac monitoring, cardiorespiratory service and other ancillary and support services. The hospital has been recognized as one of the Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals in the nation for quality. Specialist providers from our La Crosse Campus provide outreach services at the Sparta Campus in Audiology, ENT, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Occupational Medicine, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Podiatry and Urology.

Sparta, a community of 8,600, is nestled in the rolling hills and valleys of west-central Wisconsin. It has a picturesque and historical downtown area. With its’ rural/country lifestyle, Sparta is an ideal place to live and raise a family. Sparta’s excellent school system includes a parochial elementary school and public elementary, middle and high schools. The area offers four-season recreational activities, including golf, fishing, canoeing, camping, hiking, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and biking on the nationally known 32-mile Sparta-Elroy Bike Trail. Additional cultural, recreational and educational opportunities are available in La Crosse, city of 52,000, where there are two universities and a technical college. Sparta is 110 miles from Madison, 185 miles from the Twin Cities, and 275 miles from Chicago.
