Job Description

The Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry, in collaboration with the Pediatric Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, is seeking a Pediatric Psychologist for a faculty position in the Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition section

The Riley Pediatric GI service provides care for children and adolescent with various GI conditions who have an extensive array of psychiatric and psychological needs.  Evidence-based care for pediatric GI conditions (e.g. Functional Abdominal Pain, Encopresis, EOE, Rumination, disordered eating and feeding, Transplant, Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn's Disease and Celiac Disease, etc.) recommends psychological and behavioral services as an integral part of the treatment plan, in addition to medical care and management.  Children and adolescents presenting with GI symptoms/conditions are at heightened risk for mental health comorbidities, including depression, anxiety and behavioral problems, and are at risk for life-long consequences such as chronic pain and decreased functioning. 

Position Details:

  • Work-life balance supported by standard weekly schedule and no call responsibilities
  • Clinical responsibilities will consist of psychological evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of children seen in pediatric gastroenterology clinics at a large academic medical center and related hospitals and clinics. 
  • Research responsibilities may consist of collaboration with established researchers in pediatric 
    gastroenterology at Indiana University School of Medicine.  
  • Collaboration with medical treatment teams, participation on committees, and supervision/teaching of residents/fellows, interns, and students. 
  • Interest in pediatric GI, optimize patients' coping with the stress of living with a medical condition, adherence to medical treatment recommendations, treating comorbidity mental health symptoms, and improving functioning
  • Opportunity to explore subspecialty interests and program development, including collaboration with multidisciplinary obesity medicine and weight management programs.
  • Faculty appointment with the Indiana University School of Medicine with expectation to contribute to the education of our interns and medical students

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Doctoral Clinical Psychology program, Psy.D. or Ph.D
  • HSPP certified, or eligible in the state of Indiana
